Submit your Candidate Statement in the space below: As Planning Commission Chair, former mayor, and senior citizen, I have the knowledge and experience to keep Cupertino vibrant and thriving. I advocate for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and residents' interests. I'm committed to Cupertino. My children attended Cupertino schools and my son teaches in FUHSD. Since 2018 Cupertino's resident -focused Council has made enormous progress. We lead in sustainability. A lobbyist registration ordinance was enacted. We minimized Covid's impact achieving California's lowest infection rate. Processes were established to prevent fraud and abuse. As mayor, I worked with Santa Clara County to find supportive housing for encampment residents on Wolfe Road. I moved Westport forward with ownership and senior housing, and retail. The City compelled Vallco's owner to mitigate toxic contamination. I advocated for the library expansion, all-inclusive playground, and Jollyman off -leash dog area. I worked with Santa Clara County to address Lehigh pollution. I opposed water rate increases. On the Planning Commission I advocate for ownership housing to promote the American Dream for families. On the Legislative Review Committee I promoted State legislation that creates livable towns, protects CEQA, and increases sustainability; I opposed legislation that hurts schools, cities, and the environment.
