CC 01-28-2020 CUPERTINO APPROVED MINUTES CUPERTINO CITY COUNCIL Tuesday, January 28, 2020 ROLL CALL At 5:30 p.m. Mayor Steven Scharf called the Special City Council meeting to order in the City Hall Conference Room A, 10300 Torre Avenue. Present: Mayor Steven Scharf, Vice Mayor Darcy Paul, and Councilmembers Liang Chao, Rod Sinks, and Jon Robert Willey. Absent: None. ROLL CALL ORAL COMMUNICATIONS- None COMMISSION INTERVIEWS 1. Subject: Interview applicants for commissions with terms expiring on the Housing Commission, Sustainability Commission, and Technology, Information, and Communications Commission (TICC) Recommended Action: Conduct interviews and make appointments to the Housing Commission, Sustainability Commission, and Technology, Information, and Communications Commission (TICC) Written Communications for this item included emails to Council, an updated interview schedule, an amended Attachment J - Commission Attendance Report, and written comments from applicants and the Sustainability Commission liaison. Mayor Scharf opened public comment and the following individuals spoke: Jean Bedord (Cupertino resident)- talked about senior community appointments and input for projects, and priority funding for senior services. Mayor Scharf closed public comment. I 1 I I i City Council Minutes January 28, 2020 During the ballot voting process Council appointed Sashi Begur to a full term ending 1/30/24 on the Public Safety Commission (Scharf, Paul, Willey) and the Parks and Recreation Commission (Scharf, Chao, Paul); and Eric Shan as 1st Alternate on the Public Safety Commission (Chao, Paul, Sinks, Willey). Paul moved and Sinks seconded to remove Sashi Begur from the Public Safety Commission and move to the Parks and Recreation Commission; and to move Eric Shan to the Public Safety Commission. Paul modified his motion to remove Sashi Begur from appointment to the Public Safety Commission to 1st alternate, and to primary (member) on the Parks and Recreation; and to move Eric Shan from 1st alternate to primary (member) on the Public Safety Commission. The motion carried unanimously.
