SPECIAL MEETING
At 5:00 p.m., Mayor Wei called the Special City Council Meeting to order in the Cupertino
Community Hall Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Avenue.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Hung Wei, Vice Mayor Sheila Mohan, and Councilmembers Liang Chao, J.R.
Fruen, and Kitty Moore. Absent: none.
1. ELECTION OF MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR
Mayor Wei opened the public comment period and the following people spoke.

Councilmembers made comments.
MOTION: Fruen moved and Chao seconded to nominate Sheila Mohan as Mayor. The motion
carried with the following vote: Ayes: Wei, Mohan, Chao, Fruen, and Moore. Noes: None.
Abstain: None. Absent: None.
b. Councilmembers elect Vice Mayor
Councilmembers made comments.
SECOND SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Chao moved and Moore seconded a second substitute
motion to nominate Kitty Moore as Vice Mayor. The second substitute motion failed with the
following vote: Ayes: Chao and Moore. Noes: Wei, Mohan, and Fruen. None. Abstain: None.
Absent: None.
SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Moore moved and Chao seconded a substitute motion to nominate
Liang Chao as Vice Mayor. The substitute motion failed with the following vote: Ayes: Chao
and Moore. Noes: Wei, Mohan, and Fruen. Abstain: None. Absent: None.
MOTION: Mohan moved and Wei seconded to nominate J.R. Fruen as Vice Mayor. The

motion carried with the following vote: Ayes: Wei, Mohan, and Fruen. Noes: Chao and
Moore. None. Abstain: None. Absent: None.
c. Mayor and Vice Mayor Oath of Office
Newly elected Mayor Sheila Mohan received the Oath of Office from Assemblymember Evan
Low.
Newly elected Vice Mayor J.R. Fruen received the Oath of Office from City of San Jose Vice
Mayor Rosemary Kamai.
Councilmembers made comments.
Mayor Mohan presented a gift to Councilmember Hung Wei in recognition of her service as
Mayor.
ADJOURNMENT
At 6:53 p.m., Mayor Mohan adjourned the Special City Council Meeting.
