CUPERTINO CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING
At 9:04 a.m., Mayor Hung Wei called the Special City Council Meeting to order in the
Cupertino Community Hall Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Avenue.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Hung Wei, Vice Mayor Sheila Mohan, and Councilmembers J.R. Fruen and
Kitty Moore. Absent: Councilmember Liang Chao.
COUNCIL ORIENTATION AND TRAINING
1. Subject: Council Orientation and Training
Recommended Action: Conduct Council Orientation and Training
Written communications for this item included a staff presentation.
Mayor Wei opened the public comment period, and seeing no one, closed the public
comment period.
City Manager Pamela Wu provided an overview of the meeting format and reviewed the
City form of government and organizational chart.
Executive Assistant Debra Nascimento provided a summary the Executive Assistant
duties.
Councilmembers asked questions and made comments.
Council recessed from 10:15 a.m. to 10:28 a.m.
City Clerk Kirsten Squarcia provided an overview of the City Clerk’s Office and City
Council agenda preparation process.

Mayor Wei reopened public comment period to allow for questions from the public.
Geographic Information System (GIS) Manager Teri Gerhardt provided an overview of
the Information and Technology Department.
Council received a staff tour of the Community Hall dais features.
Councilmembers asked questions and made comments.
Council recessed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Administrative Services Director Kristina Alfaro, Acting Finance Manager Beth Viajar,
and Human Resources Manager Vanessa Guerra provided an overview of the
Administrative Services Department.
Councilmembers asked questions and made comments.
Council recessed from 2:20 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
City Attorney Chris Jensen provided an overview of the City Attorney’s Office, Brown
Act, and Conflict of Interest.
Councilmembers asked questions and made comments.
Mayor Wei reopened public comment period to allow for questions from the public.
ADJOURNMENT
At 3:33 p.m., Mayor Wei adjourned the Special City Council meeting.
