Our libraries have a series of events highlighting different areas of Filipino culture. These include Meditative Banig Drawing of line patterns inspired by weaving and tattoo designs, an Introduction to Filipino Martial Arts class, and Discover Ilocano Traditional Weaving. Read for Your Rights.” The themes of George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel remain with us today. In their Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2024 report the American Library Association noted a reduction in the overall number of challenges of library books, but also a trend in which nearly three-quarters of challenges now come not from parents or individual readers, but instead from various pressure groups. SCCLD stands for the freedom to read and decide for oneself what topics they wish to explore. We will continue to develop our collection in a way that speaks to the many languages, cultures, interests, and experiences that reflect our communities.
