To whom it may concern,
We have been asked to prepare an Arborist Report for the capital improvement project at
10600 North Tantau Avenue in Cupertino, California
This letter documents the necessity to remove, store and replant twelve Olea europaea `Swan
Hill' (Swan Hill Olive) located in the Apple Park meadow directly north of the retail store located
at 10900 N. Tantau Avenue property in Cupertino, CA. The removal, storage and replanting
efforts are within the spirt and intent of the City of Cupertino's ordinance CHAPTER
14.18: PROTECTED TREES. This effort ensures the long-term viability, robustness, and value
provided to the property, in addition to Apple's commitment to the Urban and Community
Forest.
We are asking to remove, store and replant the trees per Section 14.18.200 Protection During
Construction.
All trees on-site are considered Protected Trees, defined in Chapter 14.18.050 as Approved
Development Trees, and there are no trees or plant material on abutting properties that could
influence site design or be impacted by the project.
All trees on-site are to be preserved for the duration of the project, pursuant to the following:
Fourteen (14) O/ea europaea `Swan Hill' (Swan Hill Olive) in the meadow surrounding the
existing bio-swale are proposed to be preserved in their existing condition by boxing and storing
said trees on Apple property. The purpose of boxing and storing the trees is protect the trees
from the construction process. In addition, with the change in grade and the intensity of the
construction it will be impossible to protect the trees in place. Temporarily removing the trees
from the path of construction has been deemed the best method of preservation. The 14 trees
will be maintained and reinstalled as a part of the project completion. The trees to be preserved
off site are: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14.
The subsequent process shall be followed for tree preservation.
1. Trees will be side boxed into a 60" boxes.
2. Trees will be transported to an Apple property and stored/staged.
3. An irrigation system will be installed on all trees and monitored by an irrigation controller.
4. Trees will placed on a regular maintenance schedule for the duration of the project and
regularly monitored by a qualified professional.
