A. Promote Available Meeting Spaces in Cupertino
Shawna Holmes stated that there could be a minimum marketing level at the
Chamber and the City. Mark McKenna expressed interest in handling the project
and suggested that a task force be formed to study the project. Richard Lowenthal
suggested that there should be someone to spearhead the project. The committee
agreed that marketing could be done and Mark volunteered to talk to Maria
Streeby from Cypress Hotel regarding her interest in spearheading the project.
B. Retail Use to Non-Taxable Use
The Planning Commission has been reviewing this item under the Conversion
Guidelines. An analysis was done to determine what areas were producing sales
tax and discussions have occurred regarding the functionality of obsolete
buildings. The Chamber's position is that they don't want the business zoning to
go away, but they are willing to address each property on a case-by-case basis.
Conversion Guidelines will be on the next Legislative Action Committee agenda
so that the policy can be discussed and the Chamber can make a recommendation.
Steve Piasecki will attend the meeting.
