Plant Betula away from patios or parking areas, as they often attract aphids that don't really bother the tree, but drop sticky honeydew that can be unpleasant to deal with. Roots also tend to be on the shallow side, so Himalayan birch is best planted away from high traffic areas. Those things aside, Betula jacquemontii has some resistance to the birch borer beetle, and thrives in lower elevation soil that might be too wet for other species.
