RESOLUTION NO. 05-201
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CUPERTINO APPROVING REQUEST FROM SHERIFF FOR USE
OF THE CITIZENS' OPTION FOR PUBLIC
SAFETY (COPS) PROGRAM FUNDS OF $100,000
WHEREAS, the 2005 Budget Act provided $200 million in General Fund monies in
2005-06; and
WHEREAS, the Budget Act establishes the Citizens' Option for Public Safety (COPS)
program and appropriates $ I 00 million ttom the state general fund for the 2005-06 fiscal year
and the City of Cupertino's per capita share is $100,000 for fiscal year 2005-06; and
WHEREAS, the COPS program provides funding for local agencies for the purpose of
ensuring public safety; and
WHEREAS, cities are required to appropriate COPS revenues to fund ttont line
municipal police services which can include anti-gang and community crime prevention
programs; and
WHEREAS, these funds are to be appropriated pursuant to a written request ttom the
Chief of Police or the Chief Administrator of the law enforcement agency that provides police
services for that city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cupertino
hereby approves the Sheriffs request for the expenditures of Citizens' Option for Public Safety
(COPS) funds.

Cupertino this 6th day of December 2005, by the following vote:
