Dear City Council:
The plans to close ten elementary schools and one junior high are a bit premature
And worrisome. I noticed that Hyde Middle school had no representative for it when
I looked at who was on the citizen advisory committee for the school closures. And Hyde
Was on the list for closures? And lincoln? Do you realize what the land alone that
Those school sites are sitting on is worth? And senator wiener would build out
Each residential lot in Cupertino with fourplexes to eightplexes with his repeated attempts
To pass sb 50? And we know where the money from that bill is coming from.I
Yes, closing so many schools is very worrisome now, especially with no one being able
To go to meetings in person. I don't have children, but I have friends whose kids go to
Local schools and relatives who kids did, including a godson. We are products of local schools.
I think we must proceed cautiously and not jump to conclusions that we need to do anything
Now, right this minute. Too many closed schools have been sold off for housing and the
Community never gets the land back for schools. And according to senator wiener, we
Will need more schools than ever with all this sb 50 new housing? Or do we just not
Educate the kids from these new housing? Now, that is a plan no one thought of!
I want to know more about these school closures before anything is actually closed and
The land sold. With two schools targeted in my area, and one my husband went to in
Monte vista, I really want to know what the real deal is. Follow the land values? Close the
Schools? Say it isn't so.
Sincerely,
2
