A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO
CALLING FOR A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 3, 2020 TO FILL TWO CITY COUNCIL SEATS,REQUESTING
CONSOLIDATION WITH OTHER STATEWIDE ELECTIONS,AND
REQUESTING THAT THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS CONDUCT THE
ELECTION AND CANVASS THE VOTES
WHEREAS, November 3, 2020, is the date set by law for the election of
Councilmembers and for any City measure(s); and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk is enjoined by law to take all steps necessary for the
holding of said election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Cupertino:
1. A General Municipal Election is called for November 3,2020, to fill two at-large i
City Council seats for full four-year terms. These seats are now occupied by
Councilmember Rod Sinks and Mayor Steven Scharf.

2. Pursuant to Elections Code (EC) Section 10403 of the State of California, the City
of Cupertino requests that said election be consolidated with other Statewide
elections and acknowledges that the consolidated election will be held and
conducted in the manner prescribed in EC 10418.
3. The City of Cupertino requests that the Registrar of Voters of Santa Clara
County conduct the elections and canvass the returns. The Registrar shall be
reimbursed for all costs incurred by said services.
4. A current map showing the boundaries of the district (City) and the boundaries
of any divisions of the district shall be submitted to the Registrar of Voters at least
125 days prior to the day fixed for the general district election.
5. Pursuant to EC 13307, each candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall be i
limited to a maximum of 200 words. The cost of printing, translating and
distributing said statements shall be borne by the candidates who file such
statements. Each candidate who files such a statement shall be required to pay in
advance his or her pro rata share of the estimated costs of printing,handling, and

mailing said candidate statement, such estimated costs to be determined by the
Registrar of Voters.
6. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify to the adoption of
this resolution and to transmit a copy hereof so certified to the Registrar of
Voters and to the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County.

7. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to publish a notice of election within
the time and in the manner specified in EC Division 12,Chapter 2(commencing
with section 12101).
