SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO FOR NOVEMBER 13, 1989.

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by Vice Chairman Gong

ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC 51,877.1 - TANDEM COMPUTER Tantau
Ave. Requesting informal review of a trash enclosure location for
® an existing industrial building located on the east side of Tantau
Avenue, between Pruneridge Avenue and I-280.
Presentations:

- Privacy of adjacent residential.
- Aesthetics from freeway and neighboring roadways.
DECISION:
- On a 4-0 vote ASAC 51,877.1 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the model resolution.
ITEM 2) APPLICATION ASAC 51,882.1 - MORE THAN A CARPENTER
(JOHN FERGUSON)- Requesting informal review of a change in
roofing materials for two triplexes located on the norths side of
Sorenson Avenue, west of Finch Avenue.

DECISION:
On a 3-0 vote, ASAC 51,882.11 was approved per the findings and

(BRITISH PETROLEUM), Requesting approval of a monument sign
(partial Planned Development Sign Program) for a service station
located on the northwest comer, i'of Homestead Road and N. DeAnza
Boulevard. I;
ISSUES:
- Number of signs proposed.
- Height of signs.

- By 3-0 vote, ASAC 51,855.2 wasj continued to November 27, 1989 to •
allow additional time for preparation of plans.
ITEM 4) APPLICATION ASAC 51,698.2 - WQRTHINGTON CHEVROLET
Requesting approval of modifications to a Planned Development Sign
Program for an auto dealership l�ocated on the north side of Stevens
Creek Blvd, east of Stelling Road.;1

DECISION:
On a 2-1 vote, ASAC 51,698.2 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the' model resolution, and with the
following condition being added 11 1 Condition No. 13 - A planter
shall be added around the new sign.

ITEM 5) APPLICATION ASAC 51,879.1 AMCOE SIGN COMPANY
(A N D O R ) Requesting approval of a monument sign for an
industrial office building located on the westerly side of Bubb Road,
south of Stevens Creek Blvd (10131 Bubb Road).

ISSUES:

DECISION:
- On a 4-0 vote ASAC 51,879.1 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the model resolution.
ITEM 6) APPLICATION ASAC 51,881.1 - SOBRATO DEVELOPMENT
requesting approval of plans to relocate mechanical equipment and
install a concrete block screen wall for an office building located on
the east side of De Anza Blvd. between Mariani Avenue and I-280.
Presentations:

ISSUES:
- Visual impact upon adjacent residential uses.
- Noise disturbance from mechanical equipment.
DECISION:
- On a 4-0 vote ASAC 51,881.1 was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the model resolution with
Condition 11 added, providing that the wall shall be painted to
match the building.
ITEM 7) APPLICATION ASAC 51,725.2 - GREG BUNKER (PHOTO DRIVE-
M Requesting approval of modifications to a Planned
Development Sign Program for a retail commercial building located
on the west side of Saratoga -Sunnyvale Rad, south of Prospect Road
(1325 S. Saratoga -Sunnyvale Road).

- Sign area much larger than) allowed.
- Amount of signage on site (six existing).
- Compatibility with existing signage on adjacent parcels and
within the city.
- Creation of excessive glare �rom neon lighting.
- Type of sign in conflict with intent of sign ordinance regarding
signage being used for identification rather than advertisement
purposes.
DECISION:

On a 4-0 vote ASAC 51,725.2�was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the model resolution with addition of
condition No. 12 stating that all existing neon window signs shall
be removed from the eastern elevation.
