ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC

Requesting approval of exterior modifications to two existing
industrial/office buildings located on the west side of Bubb Road,
between McClellan Road- and Stevens Creek Boulevard.
ISSUES:
- None
DECISION:
On a 4-0 vote, ASAC 51,860.1 was approved on the consent calendar
per . the .findings and conditions contained within the model
resolution.
ITEM 2) APPLICATION ASAC 51 858 1 - MOISON I N V E S T M E N T
CQMPANY Requesting approval of a building mounted sign for an
existing office building located on the south side of Homestead Road,
west of Stelling, Road (21070 Homestead Road).
ISSUES:.:. .
- None
DECISION:
On a 4-0 vote, ASAC 51,858.1 was approved on the consent calendar
per the findings and conditions contained within the model
resolution.

INFORMAL REVIEW OF PLANNED DEVELOPMENT USE PERMIT

ITEM 3) APPLICATION ASAC 18-U-89 CUPERTINO RESTAURANTS.
IXC., ;Requesting informal review of proposed remodeling of an
existing 9,600 square foot restaurant to a take-out food service
facility. Property is located at the southwest quadrant of North
DeAnza' Boulevard and Alves Drive.
Jim Sisk, agent, and Skip Palmer, applicant, spoke about the proposed
exterior changes.
ISSUES:
- Size of monument sign
- Location of monument sign
- Treatment of new entrance to restaurant
CONSENSUS:
- Monument sign should be relocated to the opposite side of the
entrance , driveway or within the landscaped area along the front
of the restaurant.
,A .lower, sign height is desirable.
The walkway should be extended through the planter near the
dr4v' eway.
Landscaping should be done around the new entrance.

ITEM 4) APPLICATION ASAC 15-U-88 - CHRISTENSEN'S SADDELRY
Requesting informal � review of landscape plans for a retail
commercial building located on the west side of Saratoga -Sunnyvale
Road, south of Rainbow Drive.
On a 4-0 vote, this application was continued to the agenda of August
14, 1989 as there was no authorized representative in attendance.
ITEM 5) APPLICATION ASAC 51,864.1 - DEVCON CONSTRUCTION
(APPLE COMPUTER) Requesting informal review of a storage
shed at the rear of an industrial/office building located at 10443
Bandley 'Drive.
Ed Stellingsma, Apple Computer, and Barry Ludwice, Devcon, were
present for this item.

ITEM 6) APPLI ATION AS AC 51,861.1 - TAEHOON K I M_ Requesting
approval of modifications to an existing freestanding sign for a
tenant sub -leasing space from a retail auto parts store (United Auto)
located on the north side of Stevens Creek Boulevard, east of DeAnza
Boulevard.
Taehoon Kim, applicant, was present for this item.
ISSUES:
- Location of sign
- Appropriateness of adding to a nonconforming sign
- Proposal F contrary to the intent of the Sign Ordinance
DECISION:
A motion to' approve ASAC 51,861.1 per the findings and conditions
• contained within the model resolution was denied on a 2-2 vote
(Gong and Hoxsie dissenting) due to a lack of a majority in favor.
ITEM 7) APPLICATION ASAC' 51,820.1 - MARIANI GROUP Requesting
approval of . modifications to a Planned Development Sign Program
fro a .;multi -tenant retail center located on the southwest corner of
Homestead Road and North DeAnza Boulevard.
John Delmare, Mariani, and John Komo were present for this item.
ISSUES:
- Compatibility of red with the approved color palette and the
colors, of the building.
- Need for. a monument sign
DECISION:
A motion
to approve ASAC

Review ,of second - draft of proposed guidelines
- Some, minor changes were made to the draft.

- The draft will be referred to the Energy Commission for comment.
- Staff should obtain information from the City of San Jose on the
effectiveness of their landscape guidelines, and inquire about
how appropriate numbers for policies which include percentages
or other figures were decided upon.
