SUMMARY MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND
SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO FOR JUNE 26, 1989.
MEETING HELD IN CONFERENCE ROOM A, CITY HALL, AT 10300 TORRE AVENUE,
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by

CONSENT CALENDAR
ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC 51.833.2 - P .TRINI'
DEL OROI Requesting approval of modifications to a Planned
Development Sign Program for a supermarket in a multi -tenant
retail center located on the east side of Bandley Drive between
Stevens Creek Boulevard and Alves Drive (formerly Quality Plus).
This item was removed from the consent calendar for discussion.
Hal Johnston, The Capital Company, was present for this item.
ISSUES:
- Letter height for building mounted signs
- visibility of one building mounted sign
DECISION:
On a vote of 3-1 (Hoxsie dissenting), ASAC 51,833.1 was approved per
the findings and conditions contained within the model resolution,
with one added condition as follows:
10. The address of the shopping center shall be included on the
ground sign.

ITEM 2) APPL.ICATION ASAC 51.8 7.1 - RI .HARD R NSON Requesting
approval of plans for a 1,183 square foot second story addition and a
133 square foot entry addition to a duplex located at 21592 Mission
Way, off Peninsula Avenue.
Richard Benson, applicant, was present for this item.
ISSUES:
- Appearance of entry way

- Appropriateness of second story addition when surrounding
structures are all single story,.
DECISION:
On a vote of 4-0, ASAC 51,857.1 was forwarded to the City Council with
a recommendation for approval per the findings and conditions
contained within the model resolution.
ITEM 3) APPLICATION ASAC 51.849A .TON D. ARSON Requesting
approval of a freestanding sign for a business in a multi -tenant
residential/office building located on the southwest corner of
Stevens Creek Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue.
Jon Carson, applicant was present for this item.
ISSUES:
- Burgundy color to be used for Pogo in contrast with the red trim
of the building
- Width of sign
- Placement of sign
DECISION:
On a vote of 4-0, ASAC 51,849.I was approved per the findings and
conditions contained within the ,model resolution.
ITEM 4) APPLICATION ASAC 2-U-76 (REVISED) - DUKE OF EDINBURGH
Requesting informal review of a exterior changes (proposed 150
square foot addition), to a restaurant located on the west side of Wolfe
Road, in the Vallco Village Center.
This application was continued to °the agenda of July 7, 1989 as there
was no authorized representative present.
NEW BUSINESS
ITEM 5) APPLICATION ASAC 21-EA-89 - CITY OF CUPERTINO
Requesting informal review of landscape plans for the Stevens
Creek Boulevard Improvement Plan

ISSUES:
- Landscaping plans were not included for review
- Lack of bus tum-out near the Blue Pheasant Restaurant

CONSENSUS:
- No concerns regarding the improvement plans, other than the
lack of' a bus turn out. The Committee will review the landscape
plans prior to installation.
Review and comment on draft #1, landscape & irrigation policies.
COMMENTS:
Minor changes were made to the draft. A corrected version will be
sent to the Energy Commission for their commens. Once comments
have been received, this matter will be discussed further by ASAC.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
ITEM 7) Minutes of the regular meeting of June 12, 1989
On a vote of 4-0, the minutes were approved, with one correction to
item 3. Pat Jackson was absent.
AD TOURNMENT
At 9:40 PM to the next regular meeting to be held on July 10, 1989, at 7:30 PM in
Conference Room A of City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue.
