MEETING HELD IN CONFERENCE ROOM A, CITY HALL, AT 10300 TORRE AVENUE, CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by Chairman Miller ROLL CALL Present Members: Gong, Jackson, Hoxsie, Chairman Miller Absent Members: Mann Staff Present: Tom Robillard, Planner I FORMAL REVIEW ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC 51,845.1 DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORP Requesting approval to modify a Planned Development sign program for an industrial/office complex located at the southerly terminus of Ridgeview Court. Clare Wilde representing Digital Equipment briefly described the proposed sign program and answered questions for the committee. ISSUES: - None. DECISION: On a 4-0 vote, ASAC 51,845.1 was approval per the findings and conditions contained within the model resolution.. ITEM 2) APPLICATION ASAC 51 846 1 - STOWERS ASSOCIATES_ (CAL.I) Requesting approval of a Planned Development Sign Program for a multi -tenant retail building to be located on- the northwest corner of McClellan Road and South De Anza Boulevard. Ron Cali of Cali Development described the proposed sign program and answered questions for the committee. Mr Cali also expressed his willingness to work with staff in choosing colors appropriate for the building. Robert Hoxsie expressed concerns for the number of building mounted signs. Larry Guy of Landmark Development described the architecture and painting materials. Paul Tai, Engineer for Landmark Development, explained site drainage and the concerns of putting trees along the north property line. Michael Polifoff, Landscape Architect for Lee Engineers, described the landscaping for the project. All three answered questions for the committee. Wayne Gong expressed concerns for the fencing material on the south property line. Pat Jackson expressed concerns of the use of oil based stains and the possible hazards expressed by the EPA. ISSUES: - Landscaping along the north and south property lines. - Fencing material to be used on the south property lines. DECISION: On a 3-1 vote, ASAC .28-U-88 was approval per the findings and conditions contained within the model resolution with condition 10 a modified to read as follows. • 10) a) Add one tree per residence through the center of the- project between the buildings and on the north and south property lines of adjoining single family tract. ITEM 5) MINUTE ORDER SETBACK POLICY FOR SIGNS TO BE LOCATED NEAR ENTRANCE ]2RIYEWAYS Postpone the minute order until a draft policy is written. ITEM 6) WATER CONSERVATIONIDROUGHT LANDSCAPING POLICIES Discussion on draft landscaping policies. Larry Hermer, City Planner, discused the theory of Xeriscape. The idea of a special meeting to formulate a landscaping policy was discused. Staff indicated that a date for a special meeting will be set up. APPROVAL OF MINUTES ITEM 7) Minutes of the regular meeting of April 10, 1989 Approved with no modifications.
