SUMMARY MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND
SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO FOR JANUARY 23, 1989.
MEETING HELD IN CONFERENCE ROOM A, CITY HALL, AT 10300 TORRE AVENUE,
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Chairwoman Jackson
ROLL CALL
Present Members: Gong, Hoxsie, Mann, Miller, Chairwoman Jackson
Absent Members: None

ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC 33-U-88 - DEEP CLIFF GOLF COURSE
Requesting approval of a Use Permit to demolish an existing 2342
square foot clubhouse building and to construct a new 4432 square
foot clubhouse for a golf course facility located on the south side of
McClellan Road at Clubhouse Lane.
Mike Glasson, the manager of Deep Cliff Golf Course, spoke briefly
and answered questions from the Committee.

CONSENSUS:
- The plans are acceptable as submitted
FORMAL REVIEW
ITEM 2) APPLICATION ASAC 51,830.1 - CUPERTINO BIKE SHOP
Requesting approval of modifications to a Planned Development Sign
Program for a multi -tenant retail center located on the southwest
comer of Imperial Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard.
ISSUES:
- Lifetime and maintenance of wood signs
- Wood border around sign to provide added detail and to prevent
plywood from delaminating
- Should criteria be applied to all tenants of center or not
DECISION:
On a vote of 5-0, ASAC 51,830.1 approved per the findings and
conditions contained in the model resolution, with one added
condition as follows:

1. The wood signs shall have a two finch wood trim border to be
painted an accent color. •
ITEM 3) APPLICATION ASAC 51,833.1 YOUNG ELECTRIC SIGN CO.
Requesting approval of modifications to a Planned Development Sign
Program for a supermarket which is part of a multi -tenant retail
center located on the southeast. corner of Bandley Drive and Alves
Drive (formerly Alpha Beta). 11

The Committee did not consider this item because neither the
applicant or a representative were present. The application will be
reviewed at the next regular ASAC meeting of February 13, 1989.

The Committee did not consider this item. because neither the
applicant or a representative were present. The application will be
reviewed at the next regular ASAC meeting of February 13, 1989.
COMMENTS:
- Public and private projects should go through the same approval
process.
- It is beneficial for ASAC members to be aware of City projects for
informational reasons, and 111when considering other projects in
the vicinity (for consistency and to appropriately tie projects
together). j
- ASAC would like informal ''review only, and does not intend to
comment on items under the' jurisdiction of other Commissions
- It is the Committee's role to review architecture, although
informally in the case of projects under the purview of other City
Commissions.
- The Committee would like the opportunity to review and
comment, and to point out ,any inconsistencies in the plans for a
proposed project. Their comments would be advisory to the
Council and/or Commissions'.

ITEM 7) Minutes of the regular meeting of January 9, 1989
Because the minutes were not received by the Committee members
prior to the meeting, this item was continued to the next regular
ASAC meeting of February 13, 1989.
ADJOURNMENT
At 8:53 PM to the next regular meeting to be held February 13, 1989, at 7:30 PM
in Conference Room A of City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue.
