• RESOLUTION NO. 1488 (MINUTE ORDER)
OF THE ARCTEnECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE
OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO REQOM 41NDING THAT THE CITY
COUNCIL ADOPT A POLICY REGULATING THE PLACEMENT OF
MONUMU SIGNS IN RELATION TO EWRANCE DRIVEWAYS AND
THE PUBLIC SIDEWALK
FINDINGS:
The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds that said policy will
accomplish the following objectives:
1. Establish a common, effective and consistent process for the placement
of signs.
2. Prevent accidents from occuring due to signs being placed too close to
the sidewalk or street.
3. The required setbacks will continue to allow monument signs to be
visible from the street, thereby serving their intended purpose.
SECTION I:
The Architectural and Site Approval Committee hereby establishes the
following criteria for evaluating the placement of freestanding signs in
® relation to driveways and sidewalks:
1. Monument signs shall have a minimum setback from back of sidewalk of
one foot of distance for every one foot of sign height. -
2. For locations without a sidewalk, a five foot setback from the face of
curb is required in addition to one foot of distance for every one
foot of sign height.

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of August, 1989 at a regular meeting of
the Architectural and Site Approval Committee of the City of Cupertino,
State of California, by the following roll call vote:
