The Architectural and Site Approval Camnittee finds that said review will
acccnplish the following objectives:
1. Establish a coamon, effective and consistent process for both public
and private sectors.
2. Encourage compliance with adopted City specific plans and guidelines
and General Plan objectives.
3. Encourage landscape and building design consistent with the character
of the surrounding area.
4. Eliminate inequities between the design review obligations for
privately and publicly sponsored projects.
Section 1: The following types of projects will require Architectural and
® Site Approval Committee review:
1. Street improvement projects within areas governed by an
adopted conceptual plan.
2. Street and/or median landscaping projects.
3. Publicly sponsored building and site improvement projects
including but not limited to those projects described in
Attachment A of this resolution.
Section 2: This resolution shall not apply to project progranmiing under
the purview of other City Cammnissions, as described in
Ordinance 668, Section 5.
PROCEDURES:
1. The projects shall be submitted for informal Architectural and Site
Approval Committee review prior to preparation of bid documents. The
Committee's camients and recamnendations shall be forwarded to City
Council.
2. The Committee should evaluate said project in terms of the
aforementioned objectives. In addition, the a mnittee should
determine the affects of the projects upon existing landscaping and
signage to avoid conflict with City ordinances, policies, and prior

AMAC HMENT "A"
A) New or remodeled air, rail or bus transit facilities operating under
the jurisdiction of the City of Cupertino, special district or other
public entity, within a "T" (Transportation) zone.
B) Interim improvements within any dedicated public right-of-way such as
tenporary parking lots to service adjacent private uses, but excluding
recreational structures/facilities.
C) New or remodeled maintenance yards, civic buildings such as city hall,
libraries, courts buildings, police/fire/detention facilities and
related public improvements. Facilities for treatment of waste
products, recycling centers, communications centers, and related site
inprovements.
D) New or remodeled group care facilities financed or operated by the
City, located in any zone other than R-1 (single -Family Residential)
E) New or remodeled facilities operated by any city -franchised service
provider in any zone not already requiring ASAC Review
