The Meeting was called to order at 7: u5 p. m. by Vice -Chairman Martin
Miller who led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Committee adopted the +ollowing Landscape Guidelines for
Imperial Avenue:
- Objective: Emphasize large scale plantings which
stress the informal character o+ Imperial Avenue_
1. Provide S +t. monolithic sidewalk (sidewalk located
at curb).
2. Encourage large scale shruts in lieu o+ ground cover
in confined landscape areas.

Z. The Camphor Tree shall dominate. the front yard
landscape area, co'mpr.i y ng 60% of all new trees
planted. Other large scale trees encouraged include
the Evergreen Ash and Coast Live Oak.
4. Trees are to be located in informal cluster
arrangements.
5. Use of mounding is dencouraged to accent landscape
areas as well as screen vehicular areas.

Committee Review:
- With proper landscaping, the grade level along
Rodrigues Avenue is acceptable.
- Committee favors reduciAo the apparent height of the
retaining wall along the east property line adjoining
the Lake Piltmore Apartment complex. Several methods
to be explored, may incl'lude:
1. Reducing retaining wall height and increasing
the slope ❑f the landscape area.
2. Terracing.
_. Stepping down fro units to a lower flat area
with a resultant 'lower retaining wall.

Building materials okay, except, Committee wishes to
view existing buildings with metal the as outlined by
the applicant. The Committee will render a
recommendation on the roof material at its. meeting of
June- 11, 1984.
One Committee Member strongly preferred use of a terra
Gotta tile roof in lieu of the metal roof proposed. by
the applicant.

Committee Consensus:. -Recommended changes to shape of the•
canvas awnings and mechanical roof screen and landscape
area. To be -returned: to:the-Committee at their, next meeting
of June 11, 1984. .
