OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE
OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF
EXCEPTION TO SECTION 6.03.3 OF ORDINANCE 746 TO
PERMIT A FREE-STANDING SIGN ON A SITE WHICH DOES
NOT MEET THE "200-RULE" CRITERIA SPECIFIED IN
SAID ORDINANCE SECTION.

FINDINGS:
The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds as follows with respect
to this application:
1. Consistent with provisions of Section 11.01 of Ordinance 746, the
requested exception will reduce practical difficulties for the
public, and provide for identification consistent with the purposes
and intent of said ordinance for the subject restaurant.
a. Certain characteristics of subject site preclude adequate
north elevation building -mounted sign visibility from vehicles
travelling in an eastbound direction.
• b. The proposed free-standing sign is approved in lieu of an
alternative request for an exception to Ordinance 746 to permit
two building -mounted signs; said signs would tend to constitute
a significant detraction from the aesthetics of the existing
building form.
C. Therefore, public safety will be ensured and practical
difficulties will be reduced for the citizen attempting
to locate the subject business, by providing a means of
identity which distinguishes that business from adjoining
land uses, consistent with Criteria 3, 4, and 5 of Section
1.03.2 of Ordinance 746.
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL:
1-8. Architectural and Site Approval Standard Conditions to the extent that they
do not conflict with the special conditions enumerated herein. In the
event a conflict does exist, the special conditions as enumerated herein
shall apply.
9. The recommendation of approval is based upon Exhibit F 3rd Revision of this
application except as may be amended by special conditions contained herein.
10. Exhibit F 3rd Revision shall be revised at the building permit level to reflect
• the following modifications:
a. Delete "restaurant".
b. Incorporate non -illuminated street address number.

C. Delete large logo; locate small logo in place of apostrophe.
11. The Architectural and Site Approval Committee or its staff shall retain
authority to review and require correction of off -site light intrusion
impacts from signs installed on the subject site pursuant to approval.

Architectural and Site Approval Committee of the City of Cupertino, State of
