requesting approval of a sign plan for existing servic

Stevens Creek Blvd. Referred back to H-Control. from City
Council meeting of Tune 19, 1972, =
The Senior Planner stated .that the Council `also ` returned this Stff report
,application to the H-Control_ Committee to get a 'lower profile
sign. The staff has worked with the applicant on this.. Because
this is in a shopping center, they are asking for a 20' high sign l

lanes of traffic on Stevens Creek_Blvdo going west, 1_00 feet away]
from the site. Another was taken from the Sears Service 'Center,
These pictures demonstrated that the free --standing sign cannot be
seen, due to the street trees. Travelling east, it is difficult
to get in and out of the station. The staff has.recommended'the
applicant relocate his sign toward the corer for better visibility.
Mr. Cleavy.confirmed they ended up with the hallmark sign at the
corner radius after working at the site for about.4 hours He
said they 'wait people to be able to see their site and to be able
to compare prices. ` ` He said they took pictures with 'the sign. at
15' and all you could see was the trees.

Mr. Hess said no great aTaount of mass grading is involved here, Grading
They meet the natural grade, There is a significai7t amount of w
grading taking place along McClellan in confo r ance with the
City's requirements. There gill be. some contour grading on Lot 1
common area involving mounding and abowl effect at one end.
The private road will conform to the natur.eal . grade , The drainage
will go underground. e There will be retaining Foalls and fencing
between lots 2 and 5, A garden wall may be needed between Lots 14
and 15.
The light standards will be in conformance with City requirements. Lighting
There`is a focussing device to direct the light toward the street
rather than the residences. The lighting along McClellan load
will be in the assessment districts Thereis a 27' differential
in elevation between McClellan at the: pump station and the'units.
