On page 2, Member Gatto said the applicant representing item 4 is
with Triangle Associates. And on page 8, 6th paragraph, it should
read that the signs (rather than the lights) will be 150' apart.

In answer to Vice -Chairman Adams' question, Mr. Swanson said the lights
will be put on time clocks.
Member Gatto was interested in the -Wattages of these lights. Mr. Swanson
said there will be four 400-watt lights closest to Vista Drive. There
will be 1500 watts quartz lights. Nlhen you out the quartz with the
mercury haloid you get a color correction. In reviewing the plans,
Me.1ber Gatto feels the lighting is excessive. Vice -Chairman Adams asked
about deleting one quartz light by the firehousze and one by the
adjacent residential property. The poles are 30 feet 'nigh.
Member Gatto asked the status of the adjacent property. The Planning
Director said there are duplexes in that area.
;Member McLaren said the signing and lighting were to be approved by
t',<is Com-mittee, but the City Council approved this application at
itheir last meeting. This should be corrected.

Mr. Gary Wiler, 660 Harvard Avenue, Santa Clara, was present to
speak for the applicant. In answer to the Vice-Chair:-an's question,
he said the pole sign is internally illu-,iinated. The proposal is
for blue letters, red insignia, and -white background for the double
face pole sign.
'There followed a discussion about how the sign will tie in with the
�otlier signs in this shopping center. T-ie Vice -Chairman said there

Mr. Johnson said they will use acoustical materials to minimize this.
There will be exterior lights to guide the drivers, recessed down
lights in the soffitt, and the cent.:ry future vfhich allows shafts
of light down the sides of the building.
The logo will be stucco or plywood surface.
They will use large specimens of trees. The kinds of shrubs were
described. The landscaping :•rill be sprinklered. The landscape plans
were prepared by Josep,iine C. W'illrodt, Landscape Architect.
There is a large substation behind parcel C. The utilities will be

The Planning Technician said the proposal. is to construct an 8' x 20'
concrete block trash enclosure ,,7ita good gates painted white. The
colors and materials will match those of the existing building.
The applicant also proposes a 4' x 20' planter located on the easterly
side of the station. This will be similar to the existing planter
on the west side of the building.
Mr. Robertson said they are proposing to put a dumpster enclosure at
the rear of the building. The purpose of the la.dscaping is to
upgrade the looks of the site.

Robertson said the watering is done nainly by hand. Me-�ber Gatto
felt that since this is sor:ewblat a self-imposed effort to upgrade

Vice-Chairman Ada- --as said the letter invited the Conmittee to sit
down with the Goals Con_-iittee to exchange co=ents, etc. He
suggested they -aer the Goals Co-._mittee prior to t1ne next
H-Control meeting so their recommendation to the City. Council can
be finalized at tie next regular -.ieeting. The Planning Technician
suggested ested they go over the report individually -before the joint
meeting.
