Further discussion of grading; was hell with Mr. Iluir. With change in
grade from sidewalk to ^ence aloac, Foothill Boulevard; fence could be

putting fence above slope feeling it was not desirable to have such
a tall expanse of fence on major street. Mr. ;lair said it was a
choice of looking at a fence or into a backyard. Chairman Sargent
pointed out that ordinarily houses did not back on main streets.
Member Sallan said proposed landscaping looked as though it could be
attractive, but grade difference at fence minimized landscaping. Mr.
Muir said he did not think homeowners would be happy with a lower
fence. Chairman Sargent noted the committee was concerned both with
privacy of individuals and view from "oothill Boulevard.
Member Mcharen asked about drainage. The committee discussed with
Mr. Muir his plans for correcting these problems,.
Mr. Muir told the committee that all changes proposed when application
had been previously approved had been made. The buildings had been
changed to all single.: story and the number of units had been reduced
from 11 to 10. The fence detail would be. exactly the same as had

previously been approved and landscaping would conform to what had
been asked for at previous hearing.
Member.McLaren expressed her concern about the safety of patients Owners control
and visitors at the adjacent rest home from people cutting through traffic
from development to shopping center. Mr. Muir, suggested;;people
who owned the rest home should control the traffic,
Member Sallan asked if the 6' fence set back`,2y on slope above 7' maximum,

juggled around by architects, engineers and marketing personnel -

line of site elevation of the proposed trees and visual impact from
Stevens Creek Boulevard.
Member Koenitzer said the Pineapple Gauva trees in front of building
line would be quite dense and suggested substituting another type of
tree not so dense. Mr.. Schmidt _;.greed to planting something that
would not exceed 3' in height.
Chairman Sargent asked Mr. Weiss if this would be a satisfactory com-
promise and his representative a:iswered it would be agreeable with them.
The lighting was briefly discussed.
Chairman Sargent announced this ,7as a Public Hearing and open to comments

Enclosure Mr. Glen Crum spoke regarding the trash enclosure. This would be moved
close to to the rear of station and be constructed of material. compatible with
station in building. It will be placed close to the building. The enclosure would
-rear probably be a 6' wood structure.
Sign reduc- Member Koenitzer felt the sign height could be reduced by 2.
Lion Reducing height would give the sign better proportion. Mr. Crum
said he would have to confer with Exxoi to determine if it would be
possible to reduce sign, and to get details of the way price sign
is planned to be worked out. Mr. Crum suggested the appropriate thing
would be to have a delay permitted.
