Display Technology Corporation representing Sears, Roebuck and Company requesting approval of a sign plan for a commer.c:ial building located at the norhtwest corner of Wolfe Road and Stevens Creek Boulevard. Staff Nember Cowan reported this application covered the installation of an automatic. electrically controlled readerboard sign on the gasoline pump of the Sears TBA facility. The existing price sign would have to be removed. He showed slides of the site and pro- posed location of sign. Also existing price sign which will have to be eliminated to conform to ordinance. Nr. Ross Aiken of Display Technology Corporation then explained the proposed system, its uses and described its appearance. He said it looks much like a readerboard but will be remote controlled. There is no glare. He also discussed how it worked, having a special coding to prohibit someone else from changing mess>oe. In discussing frequency of 7essage change, IIr. Aiken said some communities allow six changes a daJ, but in practice, they are not changed very often. He said t-.,:e change is so fast it is not very noticable.
