ridge has co~e do'~ 250 feet during ~he last ~~~ years. Kaiser
is under no regulation~ at ~he present time. She asked the City
cf Cupertino to join tbe other cunic1palities in urging the County
Board of Supervisors to ~ake a:fircat1ve acti~n in controlli~s
Kaiser-Permanen~e's operations, requiring that they su~~it some
plan for fu~ure develop~ent and afford guarantees that our hillsides
vill not be further ~cared. Due to ~be Grandfather Clause in the
C~unty Quarrying Ordinance, Kaiser is presently execpt.
Counci!:un ~!e:'ers feels it ~ould ~c ,,?propr1ate to ask the County to
investigate the possibility of placing controls on the Kaiser operation,
but not to put then out of business and thereby putting many people out
of work.

traced on the map that property involved in the Ordinance.
Hrs. Nellis noted that, considering this is ~1l1side property, per-
haps the zoning is too ,dense.

Councilman Meyerb said he has had discussions with Cupertino residents
regarding the d~p facilities and their high cost. He felt that one of
the reasons people are throwing their garbage in renote areas is that
it is too expensive and too inconvenient to get rid of any other way.
