CC Resolution No. 9305 · RESOLUTION NO. 9305. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO SUPPORTING MEASURE A FOR THE RENOVATION OF SCHOOLS IN THE CUPERTINO UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino recognizes that the quality of public education in a community is a primary determinant of the quality of life in that community; and WHEREAS, our community shares the high expectations of the Cupertino Union School District for the educational success of its students--success that depends on high quality instructional programs, safe tan orderly learning environments, and good school facilities; and WHEREAS, school facilities in the Cupertino Union School District are over 35 years old and the state of California does not provide funding for the renovation of aging school facilities; and WHEREAS, since 1989, the Cupertino Union School District--without raising taxes--has completed $67 million in school renovations as part of its Facility Modernization Program; and WHEREAS, to complete the renovation of all its elementary and junior high schools, the Cupertino Union School District Board of Education adopted a resolution dated January 24, 1995, to place a $71 million bond--Measure A--on the June 6 1995, statewide ballot; and WHEREAS, the cost to taxpayers residing within the boundaries of the Cupertino Union School District will be $30 per $100,000 of assessed home valuation; and WHEREAS, if passed by 2/3 of the voters, the proceeds of the bond will be used to renovate classrooms, add needed classrooms for enrollment growth, rehabilitate junior high science labs, replace aging heating and ventilation systems, replace leaking roofs, and network all schools for technology; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Cupertino supports the passage of Measure A to renovate schools in the Cupertino Union School District to continue to provide the highest quality education to students, RESOLUTION NO, 9305 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Cupertino this 20th day of March, 1995, by the following vote: YQ1!: Members of the City Council AYES: NOES: ABSENT: ABSTAIN: Bautista, Burnett, Koppel, Sorensen, Dean None None None APPROVED: /s/ Wally Dean Mayor, City of Cupertino ATTEST: /s/ Kimberly Smith City Clerk
