CC Resolution No. 9239 RESOLUTION NO. ..22.l2. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO TO SUPPORT A GRANT SUBMITTAL TO THE ASSOCIATION OF BAY AREA GOVERNMENTS FORA WESTERN SANTA CLARA COUNTY FOOTHILLS SUBREGIONAL PLANNING PROJECT WHEREAS, The Association of Bay Area Governments issued a Request for Proposals to Bay Area cities and counties to receive support for a Comprehensive Subregional Planning pilot project; and WHEREAS, the Cupertino General Plan includes a policy to explore a joint powers agreement involving Cupertino, Los Altos Hills, Palo Alto, Saratoga and Santa Clara County for the purpose of hillside protection in the unincorporated area; and WHEREAS, receipt of the grant will aide in implementing this policy by involving the above jurisdictions and potentially Los Gatos, Los Altos Hills and Palo Alto; and WHEREAS, the jurisdictions of Los Altos Hills, Palo Alto, Saratoga and Santa Clara County, Los Gatos and Monte Sereno are potential participants in the joint project, with Monte Sereno being the lead agency; and WHEREAS, the pilot project will support regional and subregional goals of: long-term protection and enhancement of agricultural land, ecologically sensitive areas and open space; compact city-centered pattern of growth; and cooperative planning efforts; and WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Congestion Management Agency (CMA) is also applying for an ABAG grant for subregional land use and transportation planning; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cupertino to support the grant application described above. While the Cupertino City Council supports both the Western Santa Clara County Foothills and the CMA grants, the CMA grant is the first priority.
