The Yamaoka denial was based chiefly on traffic problems and road pattern. problems. A. (Continued Approved by H- Control with conditions.) Mr. Ned Abrams briefly reviewed the proposed garden apartments plans. He presented a copy of his letter, dated October 2, 1963, to the City Engineer requesting a report of the Cit;• Engineer. He stated this letter was delivered to Robert Shook at City Hall. He also presented a letter from the Sanitary District. Mr. Lahi stats4 his department has all the easements; however, the date of plan is missing and the City Attorney may feel that this development may create legal problems if not prepared by a Civil, Engineer. He also pointed out that the original 27' road is now a 20' road. Greenwich Drive is still 27' wide. In defense of retaining the through street, Mr. Abrams pointed sat the circuitous route which would discourage through traffic, but maid greatly aid the fire department, etc. Mr. Abrams also stated there is now twice as much park as was originally planned. The total number of units has been reduced Eros Be to 80 upon the advise of FHA. The bridge across Greenwich Drive will be approximately 14' high. Mr. Allen Walter, architect for Vallco Park, then cited the historical value and impact on the community of Vallco Park. He then quoted excerpts from the March, 1959, City Council Meeting minutes regarding the dangers of drifting without planning and the need for long range planning objectives. Mr. Walter then went on to say that Varian Associates would be the key element of the Vhlloo Park plan. Not only would this bring interest ormother devei developments in in to thhis area. Mayor Jewett then requested comments from the audience. Mr. Stuart Leaf, 6T9 Meadow, Santa Clara (Westwood oaks Home- owners' Association President) stated that, in general, the homeowner welcome Vallco. However, the inter -city agreement does not have any- thing to do with the buffering -- only as to height of the buildings. The Association would like clarification of buffering in the agree- ment. He also stated they would prefer a parking lot with buffering rather than a street along the property line bordering Westwood Oaks. Mr. Blayney stated that the Vallco property bordering West- wood Oaks is very small, but that the inter - -city agreement should be rewritten to include new factors brought up in the studies by Yallco.
