The Cornell incommended that the Plamisg Commissionts budget account No. 504 Mrooiasaional and Consultant Pees, be increased by tthe _ 3 general Plan �t is to be prepared by Wilsey,, Ham Blair. of he Mayor Benetti asloed for a clarification of the charge to the Planning Commission of $1,200.00 for the City Attorney and $1,200 for the City Engineer. The City Manager explained that these services would be rendered by these departments and a charge 'should be noted against the Department receiving the services. The Mayor referred to page 1 in the Budget Summary and asked if this was not shown in the Planning Commission total and that it was also shown in the City Engineer's and City Attorney's total and that this would show an in- correct total in the General Fund budget by $2,400.00. The error was recognized and it was noted that the final budget would be cor- rected showing the proper distribution of the Fund. The Council requested that the City Manager's salary increase and that of an employee in the Building Department, be corrected in the final budget. Councilman Saich. commented on the Street Department Budget stating that thare should to an allocation for a general improvement of certain streets, Stevens Creek Boulevard in particular. The City Manager stated that he recognized that certain streets in Cupertino needed major maintenance, but that these should be set up In a pro - Ject calling for bids and that the Council az that time could anyro- priate mone; from the unexpendaa reserve. Comments were made on the City Mana_ror's recommendation that certain capital improvements, particularly a revlew and inspection by the City Council of prrperties in Cupertino that would be available for a Civic Center. Councilman Finch said that this was very much needed but that this should be reviewed with the Bond issue that would be reviewed by the City Council. Councilman Dempster stated than he thought that we should do It immediately, that the price of land was changing every day and that if we wait too long, we would be paying wre for the property. The City Manager requested that a capital item in the City Clerk's budget for a postage meter be appro•:ed. Councilman Dempster moved that the postage meter be parahaaed, seconded by Councilman Finch. AYES: Councilmen: Dempster, Finch, Jewett, Saich, Benettl NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None 107ION CARRIED: 5 -0 Councilman Jewett stated that a request had been made by the Chamber of Commerce for $3,5co.00 to assist them in their promotion program for the coming year. That the Chamber was in dire need of fads He rezompnded to the Council that they appropriate $2,000.00 1 or tble $3.500 reemeat to the Chamber at once. Councilmen Jewett mowed that a warrant be drawn for $2,000.00 in favor of the Chamber of Comserce. Seccnded by Councilman Finch.
