These trees will be planted in November or December. The two malls essentially will have brick and grass with ornamental trees and fountains with small streams of water. The parking area will have a variety of shrubs and planter boxes. Chairman Irwin inquired about cars that butt up against building areas. Will they have some type of car stops in front of planting areas? The Chief Building Inspector stated that a pattern has been set when there is landscaping, the City requests that a raised berm be placed between cars and the planting area. Mr. Ward stated that all the planting areas will be automatic sprinkler controlled. Also stated that there will be fencing along Linnett Lane. Comm. Fitch commented that this plan was done in good taste. Mr. Ward went on to review the two shopping center signs and store signs for the shops within the shopping center. Mr. Ward stated that the two signs are 4' x 25', a total of 100 sq. ft. per face and are identification signs for Safeway and the First National Bank. Chairman Irwin asked the Chief Building Inspector how much square footage was allowed under the Sign Ordinance. The Chief Building Inspector stated that 150sq.. ft. is allowed if the sign is the main advertising for the shopping center. After a lengthy discussion it was found from an interpretation of the Chief Building Inspector that these signs are not shopping center signs but are individual ground signs for Safeway and the First National Bank. Comm. Fitch asked about signs relating to the other stores and the proposed overall picture. Mr. Ward stated that the individual shops are aware they will have no advertising on identification sign. Chairman Irwin stated a vote should be decided upon the landscaping plan and advised that Mr. Ward and the Chief Building Inspector get together to discuss the interpretation of what he proposes and the basic recommendation of what is allowed and not allowed. `s - 2 - Moved by Comm. Chairman Irwin asked for a clarification of the highest point . of the roof. The Chief Building Inspector stated the plan indicates 914" to the top of the parapet, 218" to the top of the roof where. the sign is to be located, taking into consideration the possibility of the 41 x lo, outriggers that are shown, which is for decorative Purposes only -and is of little value for structural members, not 3 s even considering this as top of that marquee roof, is still over the height 11mitatior of.' `i e S'-Z-i Ord. This is used as a baffle, and the parapet is not part of the roof structure. Comm.
