Applications
A. Application 336-HC-68, Manuel Marchant, 10100 Fleming,
San Jose.
Since the applicant had been advised that his Use Permit for a
planned development in the Town Center area had expired, all members
voted in favor of removing this matter from the agenda of this date
without prejudice.
B. Application 337-HC-68: Charles H. Powell, 10400 Sterling
Boulevard, Cupertino; requesting approval to install candy
and hot nut machines in service stations, i.e. American Oil
at Wolfe Road and Stevens Creek Boulevards American Oil at
Stevens Creek Boulevard and Highway 9; Mobil Oil at East
Estates and Stevens Creek Boulevard; Union Oil at 10490
South Saratoga -Sunnyvale Road.
HC- 8 i,
i
Mr. Charles Powell presented the application and, in answer to questions
by the Committee members, stated that all machines are 3 feet high, of
like color, would be located outside of the service station buildings
and explained how the machines would be maintained. Further, that all
of the above locations asked for two machines to be installed with the
exception of the American Oil Station at Stevens Creek Boulevard and
Highway 9.
Considerable discussion ensued relative to the fact that the American
Oil Service Station at Stevens Creek and Highway 9 already has its
full compliment of signs and should be restricted to two machines like
all others, and about the location of the machines, i.e. outside of
the building cluttering up the appearance as opposed to being located
inside the building confines.
Member Irwin moved, Member Aguilar seconded and it was passed unanimously
to recommend application 337-HC-68 for approval, allowing these machines
to be installed with the provision that all machines be installed inside
the building walls of each service station.
C. Application 338-RC-68o Earl Blomgren, 1310 Harwalt Drive,
Los Altos; requesting approval to construct six duplexes
to be located in Tract #4188, San Antonio Rancho.
The applicant explained that all constructions would show a dark
stained exterior wood treatment and would conform to the ten Standard
Conditions.
Member Aguilar moved to recommend application 338-HC-68 for approval
subject to the ten Standard Conditions, with the plans as submitted,
subject to adherence to the Planning Department Check -List, and with
the landscaping plans to be submitted at a later date prior to the
