This letter is to document my findings regarding a tree at your project at 10191 Santa Clara Avenue.
I was asked to assess a mature Monterey cypress (Hesperocyparis macrocarpa) standing in the
northeast (front right) corner of the property, adjacent to the sidewalk. The tree was not a species
protected under Cupertino City code defining "Specimen" trees. I also verified that the tree was on
private property and was not in the public right of way. A photo of the tree was included at the end
of this report. Details for the trees are as follows:

The tree was in poor condition mostly because the main trunk had snapped at some point in the
past. There was also evidence of branch failure throughout the remaining canopy. No cultural
remedies would be effective in restoring the tree to a better condition. Furthermore, the location,
under the high voltage powerlines was not appropriate. In addition, the tree was a short-lived
species when planted in -land and subject to pest and disease. In my professional opinion, the tree
should be removed for public health and safety. If the parties involved have any questions, feel free
to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
O
