Starting Mentor Program to assist new members. Next training set for June 14 rrom 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. · CERT/OES - Marsha Hovey (Report attached) . CARES - Marsha Hovey I. Preliminary Safety Assessment Drill validated the first round of changes that CARES made to our response processes since the November 13 joint CERT/OES drill. The balance ofthe changes will be put in place for the Jun-21 joint CERT/OES drill. 2. CARES participated in the Annual Lunar New Year Parade with good turn-out. This event gave several new members some positive experience on message handling. 3. CARES is in the planning stages for several drills and events coming up... - Human Race 7-May - CERT ARK Drill 2 I-May - Joint CARES/CERT/OES Field Dri1l18-Jun - Emergency Field Communications Drill (a.k.a. Field Day) 25-Jun - 4th of July Event · Medical Reserve Corps - Carter Robinson Approximately 40 members. Started Emergency Response Team medical course last Wednesday, involves 52 hours of medical training. Three members attended Medical Reserve Corps National Leadership Conference in San Francisco last week. Will participate in the Human Race in Mountain View on May 7. New link at www.cupertino.org/emergency for MRC with a brochure. · Neighborhood Watch - Rich Madden - (Report Attached) Recruitment for halftime Neighborhood Watch Coordinator will begin next week. 4. OLD BUSINESS July 27, 1999 Cupertino Fine Arts Commission Page 2 A. Update on Dam Emergency Plan - Draft plan handed out. Please send feedback to Captain Hirokawa as soon as possible. PIO and OES will set up a meeting to discuss a communications/notification plan. B. DMA 2000 Staff members with designated responsibilities in the plan should review it prior to the City Council meeting on May 17. 5. NEW BUSINESS A. "Go Kits" (Handout) People with response roles should evaluate their role requirements and prepare a kit of supplies to keep in their car. This addresses the possible scenario that we can't get into the City Hall or it makes more sense to respond directly to another location when you are already in the car. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS 7.
