Dear Planning Staff,
The Camphor trees in the rear patio area at this property are planted in soil volumes inadequate to
sustain their growth and development. Root growth and the increase in truck diameter are causing
significant disruption to the concrete patio directly outside the sliding glass door.
This has created a tripping hazard with the potential to cause serious personal injury. The roots and
trunk flare sections cannot be removed without compromising the structural stability of the tree. A high
likelihood of whole tree failure (tree falling down) will result from the root pruning required to repair
the patio sections.
I recommend immediate removal of these trees to mitigate this hazard. Soil volumes in the rear of this
property are not adequate to support the installation of any replacement trees.
