We are enclosing the following: Tree Removal Plan showing existing trees and proposed trees (variety and size) to be removed/cut back. Geotechnical Report prepared by Stoney Miller. We are proposing to cut down to approx. 2'- 5' above the ground (depending on individual tree shape) the 7 trees shown on the plan. By cutting the trees above ground we are keeping the root system alive so it can continue to stabilize the hill. The trees in question are towards the top of the steepest portion of the hill and their heavy canopies have been determined to have contributed to the de -stabilization of the slope and resulting slide onto the Blackberry Farren pincnic area. There are three other trees on neighboring properties that also appear to be innpacting the stability, of the hillside. These are shown in approximate locations for information only, and are not part of this application. We would like to accomplish this as soon as possible to avoid potential problems with the trees and coming rainy season. We understand that because of the variety and size of the existing trees, replacement trees are required. However, because there are already two existing trees between the retaining wall and top of slope, and there is the the need to plant any new trees well above the top of the slope to avoid de -stabilizing it, we feel that the existing trees (Olive and Live Oak) are all that should be located in that area, especially considering the ultimate size (and weight) of the Live Oak. As a future phase, we will plant the hillside with drought tolerant deep rooted plants to further stabilize the hillside as recommended by Stoney -Miller. That phase will be covered under a separate submittal. We hope you see the value in acting promptly to minimize any further damage to the hillside and surrounding properties. Thank you for your consideration.
