CDC 01-27-05 Cupertino Disaster Council/Citizen Corps Council January 27, 2005 Meeting Minutes 1. CALL TO ORDER At 2:10 p.m., Councilmember Kris Wang called the meeting to order in the Valko Training Center, 10101 N. Wolfe Road, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Greg Casteel, Jennifer Chang, Glenn Goepfert, David Knapp, Laura Domondon Lee, Kimberly Smith, Therese Ambrosi Smith, Jeff Trybus City Council: Kris Wang Community Members: John Buckel, Leslie Martin, Carter Robinson Santa Clara County Sheriff: John Hirokawa Santa Clara County Fire: Marsha Hovey 3. COMMITTEE REPORTS Block Leaders Laura Domondon Lee reported that the Block Leaders meeting was well attended. She indicated that residents could now go on-line to find out where block leaders are in the neighborhoods. CERT - Marsha Hovey reported that a class would be graduating on January 29. She stated that Los Gatos would be joining the graduation exercise with their five graduates. She reported that the curriculum would be standardized with Santa Clara County Fire so it can be taught throughout all the cities covered by County Fire. The next class is scheduled in April and the focus will be changed from neighborhood response to city response. Neighborhood Watch - Jeff Trybus reported that e-cap should be ready by February. There are 195 streets and 80 watch groups. He stated that he would like to involve more streets in non-crime areas MRC - Carter Robinson reported that they are in the recruiting stage. They are looking for medical, lay people, and CERT people and need 200. He indicated that they need people who are not already committed to other areas during a disaster Update on Dam Emergency Plan John Hirokawa reported that work on the plan is still progressing. January 27,2005 Cupertino Disaster Council Page 2 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Citizen Corps Grant Marsha Hovey reported that more grant money is available for CERT and neighborhood watch. B. Set Quarterly Meeting Schedule for 2005 Marsha moved to keep the meeting schedule of the fourth Thursday of January, April, July and October at 2:00 p.m. Laura Domondon Lee seconded and motion passed unanimously. 5. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 3:23 p.m.
