In-Lieu Fee Request TR-2018-44.pdfDavid Wong 21733 Alcazar Ave. Cupertino, CA 95014 APN: 357-19-019-00 (408) 253-2203 djwong@mac.com October 15, 2018 Cupertino Planning Department Tree Removal Permit Application Dead tree removal and replacement permit application: I am requesting a permit to remove an oak tree on my property which has died. The crown of the tree turned brown this past winter and did not recover in the spring Within the last month, the tree dropped a branch, which pushed me to request the removal application. I am afraid the tree has become a hazard now. Included in this permit submittal is a report from an ISA certified arborist on the condition of the tree. I am electing to pay an in -lieu fee, instead of planting a replacement tree. I do not feel there is a location on my property where the replacement tree will be suitable. • The same location of the dead tree in the side yard is too narrow, so the canopy interferes with the house. I have it trimmed every 2-3 years. • The front yard is dominated by a large 50ft redwood tree. • The east side planting strip adjacent to Berry Ct, has PG&E lines running under it. • The back yard has two 30ft oak trees. These also require trimming every 2-3 years to keep them back from the house. Sincerely, David Wong
