We have been contacted by Vivek Deo, the property owner to inspect the tree since he just recently purchased this property and wants to understands over all health and its safety. The current location of the tree and proximity to the foundation of the house plus its canopy expansion over roof with most of major branches with several defects and hollow areas are concerning since the tree is under 24 inches from house and its leaning toward his house and there are already clear signs of root intrusion that has lifted walk paths in the landscape. Tree specie: Platanus racemosa Tree common name: Western sycamore DBH: 33" Age: 55 yrs Approx. Height: 75 Ft Approx. Health Condition: Poor (anthracnose signs, spotting and leaf damage) low vigor, 40% dieback crown ratio, failure of branches, several structural problems on branches with cavities that are over 5 inches in diameter and unknown how deep these wounds would go. Location: Tree is currently located behind house, on the back yard of property 10698 Randy Ln Cupertino CA 95014 (East Side) of property, less than 24 inches away from house and less than 2 inches from roof; with all branches with excessive weight. Potential failure: Tree and Major limbs are a constant risk aPd Imminent Danger to property and anybody that will live on house. Risk level: High Notes: The tree has heavy and major limbs that extend towards house. Due to low vigor in tree, bifurcation of codominant leaders with inbark and weak attachments we consider this tree to be a great candidate for removal and to be replaced with another native tree on the property. The tree has several structural defects and end weight represent a high risk, high risk of potential failure due weak conditions and constant wind exposure. History of Care: It is not clear what history of trees and pruning schedule, there are some areas that show some pruning done at some point but the tree has outgrown its space and any other details are unknown since this property has been recently purchased. Recommendation: We advise to remove the tree as soon as possible to prevent any failure of branches that will impact house, people living in the house or the continuing intrusion of roots into foundation and be able to replace and fix nearby walk paths to eliminate a trip and, hazard accident. Replacement Tree: We recommend to replace this tree with one 36 inches Box size Heteromeles arbutifolia (Toyon) or another california native specie that will be able to survive and adapt well to our microclimate weather changes and challenges. (Specie could change based on options presented and also availability) We will be able to provide more options as part of this report for future replacement. Also property owner is moving in soon and has plans of properly condition landscape since today there is not one in place in the backyard. 2018. These are the summary of our findings from our visual last inspection on June 21 st, After our inspection, I, Carlos Diaz, Certified Arborist WE -11361 A, determined in order to prevent any limb failure the tree should be removed as soon as possible to prevent any more problems and allow homeowner to properly repair damages.
