I, Certification of "Homestead )-C Revised" by the Secre-
tary of State.
2. Letter from Assistant County Counsel in regard to
proposed ordinance prohibiting intoxication.
). R, C, Warriner, Highway Superintendent, has sent our
letter covering the timing of traffic signals to San
Francisco.
4. TL2 Cupel'tino Union School District requests the terms
and consitions under which the City Council would accept
the deed to that portion of Mariani Avenue and Randy
Lane that borders the school district property.
5. Attention was brought to a letter from George Prine
concerning pipe line, or other, construction in an area
designated as a county flood control channel~ The
letter pointed out that a permit for such encroachment
was required by the county, With regard to other
building, the possibility of notifying Sheriff Hawley to
investigate all construction was considered, with the
conclusion that the mechanics of the building permits
should be given time for revision before such action.
Mayor Wilson requested that the minutes be checked to
determine whether or not particular councilmen were
named to contact the County Engineer conserning the
contract.
IV UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A, Ordinances and Resolutions for Adoption
City Attorney read the weapon ordinance forwarded by the
Sheriff, The Counèil was inclined t think that the weapon
ordinance was too broad, especially in its definition of
firearms. Bows and arrows, air guns, pellet guns, and BB
guns were included within the terms of the ordinance.
B. Federal Planning Assistance
Burrel Leonard reported that the 1950 census could be used tc
determine the population categories. Cupertino would fall
in the category of cities less than 25,000 population. The
planning work provided by this federal assistance generally
utilizes local planning consultants. He reported that the
budget of the local planning office, State Department of
Finance, was small, consisting of one man and one steno-
grapher. It seems to be in the nature of a clearing house
organized for the purpose of securing and channeling federal
grants, One of the first such programs in this section of
C2lifornia is operating in the Fresno neighborhood combining
the City and County of Fresno with an adjoining small muni-
cipality. Such a grouping qualifies as a metropolitan
district, which type of planning is evidently regarded with
favor by state and federal authori.ties,

Brown encouraged Councilmen Saich and Meyerholz

2. In connection with the parking situation at the store
front area it was sug¿ested that W. R. Cobb of the High-
way Division be questioned about the mountable curb.
The Council felt that parallel parkin~ would be desirab:
if the gutter could be leveled. The consensus of the
Council wus that Cali Avenue be made one way eastbound,
with access to Stevens Creek Road through the parking 1,
to the rear of the stores. The plan would bar parking
on the south side of Cali Avenue, with diagonal parking
on the post office side, cars to be headed northeast.
