EDC 09-15-04 City of Cupertino Economic Development Comll1ittee Regular Meeting September 15, 2004 ]. CALL TO ORDER At 8:05 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in the Cupertino Sports Center Conference Room, 21111 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, David Knapp, Steve Piasecki Council: Richard Lowenthal Chamber: Gilbert Wong Absent: Jody Hansen, Sandra James, Mark McKenna, Orrin Mahoney, Ralph Qualls, Guests: Karen Purtich, Ciaran Byrne, Kathy Hackler 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Local Business Presentation Carol Atwood introduced Ciaran Byrne and Kathy Hackler trom Oakville Market. Mr. Byrne updated the committee on Oakville's plans in Cupertino. He stated that an event was planned for September l8 to welcome the community to l1:1eir store. He indicated that Oakville Market is very interested in energizing the Crossroads Center and shared their market strategy. Several committee members suggested ideas to assist them in being active in the community. B. Consider Change in Meeting Date and Time Carol Atwood stated that city council meetings would be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month and suggested that the Economic Development Committee meetings be changed to a different day or later time. The committee agreed to meet at 9:00 a.m. in October. 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Cupeliino Appreciation Day Carol Atwood and Richard Lowemhal reported that they did not see very many people from Cupertino in attendance at the game a.r¡d suggested that due to budget constraints and low attendal'1ce from the community, that the event be suspended. The committee was in agreement with the suggestion. B. Upcoming Development Hearings It was announced that Vallco would be going to city council on September 20 and Carol requested support from the Chamber. Gilbert Wong stated that the Chamber was represented during the Planning Commission meeting and would also be in attendance at the City Council meeting. September 15,2004 Economic Development Committee C. Key Development Activity Steve Piasecki updated the committee on development activity in the city. Discussion followed. 5.
