Meeting Minutes
1. CALL TO ORDER
At 2:10 p.m., Marsha Hovey called the meeting to order in the Cupertino Room Quinlan
Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road, Cupertino.

3. COMMITTEE REPORTS
Block Leaders - Handout Attached
CARES - Handout Attached
CERT - Al Tsugawa reported that a new CERT class would be graduating on May I
bringing the total of citizens trained to nearly 600. Additional handout is also attached.
Neighborhood Watch - Skip Shervington reported that the program continues to be
very popular and that participation is expected to be at the same level as last year.
OES - Marsha Hovey reported on OES activities. She stated that the Vallco Training
Center is up and running. She also reported that 14 people have signed up to teach
general information on CERT in different languages. Handout attached.
CST! Training - Greg Casteel updated the group on the training. He stated that the
training was very worthwhile. He stated that communications is the most critical element
during training sessions as well as during real emergencies.
4. OVERVIEW OF THE EMERGENCY PLAN
Marsha Hovey reviewed portions of the plan. Updates will be distributed as changes are
made. She reviewed the checklist for one of the sections and discussed how it works.

5. DAM EVACUATION PLAN UPDATE
John Hirokawa reported that Santa Clara County Water District has a contact and
division handling the area and that new maps will be provided by the district. He also
stated that the district's responsibility is solely to notify agencies that a problem exists
and that individual agencies are responsible for handling evacuation procedures. A draft
document will be prepared and sent out for feedback.
