B. Consider Canceling August Meeting
The committee concurred to cancel the August 18 meeting.
It was also noted that a change in meeting date and time would be needed due to
the change in Council meeting dates beginning in November. The committee
concurred to discuss changing its meeting date and time in September.
C. Chamber Issues
Carol Atwood expressed concern regarding the Chamber's actions against City
fees for business licenses and the lack of support for new developments during
Council meetings.
Chamber representatives expressed concern that their positions were not positively
reflected in meeting minutes. They indicated that they are very interested in
supporting new development projects, but would appreciate the opportunity to
learn about projects sooner in order to review them before giving their support
during Council meetings.
Carol indicated that "upcoming development hearings" was a new item that would
be added to the Economic Development Committee agenda to keep the Chamber
up to date on new development proposals which should give them more time to
discuss the project before Council meetings.
