Dear Rashmi: At your request, I Inspected a large Deodar Cedar (Cedrus deodaral tree in your left side yard. The tree is approximately 26" in diameter, approximately 65' tall and has a crown spread of approximately 45'. The foliage is normal and the tree is healthy at this time. However, as you know, this tree has experienced numerous limb failures, including one large Ilmb Is down now on your neighbor's property. This cedar tree is also leaning on the fence and its' root crown is very close to various underground utilities. This is another case of wrong tree, wrong location and the tree has no future potential between two houses. Due to the fact that no tree should have been planted where it is and you have extremely limited yard space, I am recommending no replant of any new trees in your side yard. You already have numerous young trees planted where there is space, and the tree service or landscaper that would perform the work would have to plant one where your existing trees or vegetable garden is. In this case, it doesn't make much sense to dig something up to plant something else. In lieu of planting a tree the city may let you pay a fee to go towards planting trees elsewhere in the city. If you have any questions, I can reached on my cell phone, 40&691-3696. Sincerely, Q / a James R Lewis WCISA Certified Arborist #WE3964A tement of Purpose I, Rashmi Gupta, am requesting for a Tree Removal Permit for a Deodar Cedar Tree located on 10632 Mine Ct., Cupertino CA due to the following reasons: • The tree is at an inclination and over time it has started touching the fence. The pressure from the tree can potentially break the fence it rests on it currently. • The inclined growth of the tree also poses as an issue as the roots can come to surface and start cracking open the hardscaped floor of the backyard. • Currently about 35% of the tree is on top of the neighbor's property. Neighbors would like no part of the tree on top of their property.Trimming back the tree to remove it from above the neighbor's property can further destabilize the tree. • Tree is located at a corner of the fence adjoining our neighbor's property (between two houses) and has very limited room to grow without causing damage to either property. • The location of the tree is a hazard to the property. o The tree crown is very close to a majority of underground utilities for this property. o Some branches of the tree are directly above our roof and we've had broken limbs from the tree falling. Branching breaking and falling on the roof can damage the roof. o In general, breaking branches pose a danger to anyone standing under it.We have had a large limb break on top of our neighbor's property. I am also providing an arborist letter verifying the above.
