Dear Mr. Sarkar,
As requested on July 22nd 2017, I visited the above site to inspect and comment on a Deodar Cedar Tree
(Cedrus deodara) at front left side of the house and your concern for the future health and safety of this
tree has prompted this visit.
Overview:The Deodar Cedar Tree is a mature multi trunk tree with 75' feet tall and measured for
diameter 18/20/21/24/22" inches above ground level (DBH or diameter breast height); this tree is in
poor condition that has been topped off in the past. This tree is also showing a V-crotch trunks and large
size broken limbs that are breaking and splitting due of the weakness of been topped off making this
tree a potential hazard to home owner.

Double Top and/or "Y" Crotch:This is known as a V or U shaped crotch or double leader. These trees
can be a hazard. As 2 tops grow off the main trunk it can become a weak spot in the structure of the
tree. In a big wind can cause the one side of the double top to break off.Too much moisture can also
cause rot at location where the 2 top meet at the main trunk. In return causing rot and eventually will
cause one or both tops to break.
Topping Trees is the indiscriminate cutting of tree branches to stubs that are not large enough to
assume the terminal role.Topping is often used to reduce the size of a tree, however is not a viable
method of height reduction and certainly does not reduce future risk. In fact, topping will increase risk in
the long term.
Site Observations:The Deodar Cedar tree is growing in clay soil conditions. Irrigation system is nearby
and working normal. This tree is growing very close to the house and also the root system is causing
damages to the concrete walkway next to the pool where any time soon the pool will start leaking from
the internal walls due of the root system pushing, lifting and growing next to it. Also the canopy of this
tree is growing over the power drop line and the utility lines that will be another potential hazard that
will cause several damages if another large limb split and take the power lines down into the ground.
This tree needs to be removed before causes any more damages to the property and we cannot due any
root pruning due of their size and age;that type of technique will make more hazardous the tree
because roots support the tree and absorb water. The anatomy of roots is basically the same as trunks.
Roots like branches also age and die.
