Residential Design Review of a first and second story addition for a total house
size of 2,661 square feet.
Design Review Committee decision final unless appealed.
Staff Presentation: Gary Chao, Assistant Planner, briefly described the project. The
City's Architectural Consultant and staff recommend approval of the project. Mr. Chao
stated that the property owner located at 7509 Orange Blossom Drive wrote a letter of
concern regarding privacy protection along the rear property line. She would like to see
Italian Cypress selected for the trees.
Discussion continued regarding requirements for privacy protection.
Ms. Belochi's, 7509 Orange Blossom Drive, main concern was the privacy issue.
The architect stated that with the existing tree one couldn't see the neighbor's house.
Ms. Belochi stated that the tree is a deciduous tree and was sick. Mr. Chao commented
about the existing trees.
Mr. Wong suggested that since the owner was absent from the hearing, that staff's
recommendation be approved and have a condition of approval stating that the owner
work with the neighbor on the selection of the tree. Mr. Miller was hesitant on making
that a condition of approval. Ms. Belochi stated that she was not only set on Italian
Cypress, she thought they looked the most elegant.
The man representing the owner talked about the master bedroom window.
Ms. Belochi asked if the big tree in the back was going to be trimmed. The owner's
representative replied yes.
Discussion continued regarding privacy protection waivers.
