Regarding: Dead Tree Removal Permit
The 5 tr����r�`a�l�1�g�fd�a4�l.�no��������e���line for several years. Tree #l,
a Monter�y�i�ne,�had b ub'ect to Tj �ep Beetle. This insect bores into the lower
trun�C ar� �,'������ch a Y�e�4x����alleries in the cambium area of the tree.
This destroys part of t�e vascular system restricting the flow of water and nutrients.

close to the surrounding asp a t w ic oes no prov},,� a ver goo growmg environm�nt. 1
of the trees do not have a good tree structure�a�i��nb�'�`�c.�a��For khe species. The trees appear
to have cankers in several locations on the trunks. Cankers eat away at the tissues that provide
the flow of nutrients up and down the tree. This has created a stressful situation and the trees
eventually died.
Tree#5, a Raywood ash has died from Ash dieback, an unexplained malady primarily affecting
Raywood ash. Armillazia root rot is also observed as a secondary pathogen.
Replacement trees wauld be located in one of the central corridors that leads to their "club
house". Crape myrte (Lagerstromia indica, Tuscorora) have been chosen to make an allay
leading down the street. These trees will become 25 feet tall and provide color with their red
flowers from June to September. They will all be planted in grass areas that will supply
adequate water and good drainage as welI. This tree species is resistant to most diseases and
has few insect problems.
