EDC 06-16-04 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting June 16,2004 1. CALL TO ORDER At 8:07 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in the Cupertino Sports Center Conference Room, 21111 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, David Knapp, Steve Piasecki Chamber: Jody Hansen, Orrin Mahoney, Mark McKenna, Gilbert Wong Absent: Sandra James, Richard Lowenthal, Ralph Qualls, Guests: Jack Hubby 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Chamber Support of New Development Carol Atwood discussed the Peel's Coffee project that was discussed during a recent council meeting. She expressed concern that the Chamber had not been as supportive as it could be when good development projects come before the City Council for approval. She noted that during the recent Peet's Coffee proposal, several Chamber members were present and none of them came forward to show support for the project. She requested that Chamber representatives attend council meetings and actively support good development projects in the future. B. Cupertino Appreciation Day Atwood distributed tickets for the Chamber to give out during the Art and Wine Festival. 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Proposed Growth Initiative Steve Piasecki updated the committee on the studies currently being done as part of the City's due diligence for the initiative process. He indicated that the results of the study would be presented to City Council during a closed session. B. Key Development Activity Piasecki updated the committee on various projects within the city.
