EDC 11-19-03 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting November 19, 2003 1. CALL TO ORDER At 8: 10 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, David Knapp, Steve Piasecki, Ralph Qualls, Dorothy Steenfott Chamber: Jody Hansen, Orrin Mahoney, Mark McKenna City Council: Sandra James, Richard Lowenthal Guest: Keith Dias Absent: Gilbert Wong 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Local Business Presentation Carol Atwood informed the committee that a guest speaker was not available to make a presentation. B. Cupertino Appreciation Day The committee chose June 16, September 1, and September 2 as their choices for the 2004 event. C. Consider cancellation of the December meeting. The committee concurred to cancel the December meeting. D. Guest Speakers for 2004 Carol Atwood distributed a list of speakers who have attended since 2002. The committee discussed possible speakers for 2004. Mark McKenna suggested that there be a meeting devoted to developing committee goals and vision. Carol will distribute the current Economic Development Plan for the committee's review and discussion at the January meeting. 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Key Development Activity Steve Piasecki provided an update on several developments in the city. An updated on the library and civic center project was also discussed. Upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies The committee was informed that Great Clips for Hair had a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for November 21. It was also announced that Island Moves was having a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 12. 5. MISCELLANEOUS COMMITTEE UPDATES 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:04 a.m.
