CALL TO ORDER
At 8:05 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, 10300
Torre Avenue, Cupertino.

NEW BUSINESS
A.
Valko Update
Steve Piasecki reported that a council study session was held to discuss areas of
concern. He stated that the developers who plan to purchase the site are local and
should be easier to work with.
B.
Cupertino Appreciation Day
The committee discussed possible candidates to perform the National Anthem at
the August 6 San Jose Giants Game.

OLD BUSINESS
A.
Key Development Activity
Steve Piasecki reported that a proposal for the Town Center project is being
prepared that does not require a General Plan amendment. The proposal is
expected to be reviewed by the Planning Commission on April 28.
Steve also reported that Extended Stay America is reapplying to city council in
May.
B.
Local Business Exit Interview Report
Jody Hansen reported that she met with a representative from The Wherehouse.
She stated that there are 200 stores that will be closing and that it was an overall
business decision to close the Cupertino store.

She also reported on a meeting with The Collection at the Oaks Shopping Center.
She stated that the decision to close the store was due to an increase in the lease
amount and that the owner really wanted to take a break from working long hours.

Upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies
The Cupertino Community Services ribbon cutting will be held on April 29.
