EDC 03-19-03 City of Cupertino Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting March 19,2003 1. CALL TO ORDER At 8: 12 a.m. Carol Atwood called the meeting to order in Conference Room A, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino. 2. ROLL CALL City Staff: Carol Atwood, David Knapp, Steve Piasecki, Ralph Qualls, Dorothy Steenfott, Chamber: Keith Dias, Jody Hansen, Orrin Mahoney, Mark McKenna, Gilbert Wong City Council: Sandra James, Richard Lowenthal Guest: Planning Commissioner Gilbert Wong, Shawna Holmes, Hewlett Packard 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Local Developer Presentation Shawna Holmes, Hewlett Packard, discussed HP' s earnings and briefly updated the committee on various challenges the company is facing during the economic slow down. She also updated the committee on HP's plans to consolidate space in an effort to operate more efficiently. She stated that HP plans to sell the Stevens Creek site and would like to have the property developed with housing, mixed use and park space. 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Key Development Activity Steve Piasecki reported on various projects around the city. B. Site Visits Carol Atwood reported that the city met with Apple Computer. She stated that one of the issues that was discussed was the parking situation at BJ's. Representatives from Apple have indicated that they will not share their parking lot. C. Local Business Exit Interview Report Sandra J ames stated that she spoke to a couple of tenants at The Oaks shopping center who are considering leaving the center. Upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies Jody Hansen stated that there are three ceremonies planned and she will provide the dates as soon as they are set. 6. MISCELLANEOUS COMMITTEE UPDATES Richard Lowenthal updated the committee on the Lunar New Year Parade. He stated that it went well and that plans are being made to hold another parade next year. 5. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 a.m.
